I first came to Paros in 1981 and spent two months at Golden Beach where I fell in love with the island and with the way of life here. While visual artists talk about how they are drawn to the island’s special light, for me the natural music of the sea and the haunting sound of the wind blowing through the bamboo were the inspiration for many of the songs I composed that summer.
When it came time for me to leave and return to my native England, I cried all the way from Golden Beach to Parikia, and then all the way from Parikia to Pireaus! The song "Goodbye Paros" reflects this experience and the fact that I knew it was simply impossible I would not return some day.
In fact I came back just one year later, visited every summer for the next few years and moved permanently to the island in 1992.
Dividing my time these days between Paros and Toronto, Canada, I finally had the chance to make the first CD of my music – much of it inspired by Greece and specifically Paros, which I consider my spiritual home.
